1 Tbsp unsalted butter, divided 2 Saag’s® Classics Smoked Brats links, thinly sliced 2 lbs baking potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced 3 cups (12 ounces) finely shredded Gruyere cheese 3 Tbsp milk Freshly grated nutmeg Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste |
Preheat oven to 375˚F. Coat the inside of a shallow 2-quart (9 x 13 inch) baking dish with 1/2 tablespoon butter. Layer half the potatoes, half the sausage, then half the cheese. Repeat layers, then drizzle milk over the top evenly. Sprinkle with nutmeg, salt and pepper. Bake, covered, for 30 minutes, then cut remaining butter into bits and scatter evenly over the top and bake, uncovered, until the top is golden, and potatoes are tender, 25 to30 minutes.
